The government has suspended the $2 billion Mill Road project in Auckland after buying 287 properties for the planned route.

The government had already spent $131 million purchasing 287 properties needed for the road's construction as part of the land acquisition process. The decision to defer the project means those property purchases will not immediately lead to construction.
