A school principal in Nepal saved 900 students by evacuating them before floodwaters destroyed their school, while another group survived by chance when they left for lunch.

Catastrophic floods swept through Nepal's Trishuli Valley, destroying homes, bridges and schools. A principal received warnings about rising floodwaters and managed to evacuate 900 students to safety before their school was swept away. In another instance in the worst-affected area, a group of schoolchildren survived by fortunately leaving their classroom for a lunch break just before the floods hit.
