Major NZ banks raise fixed mortgage rates as wholesale costs climb

ANZ, BNZ, ASB and Westpac have all lifted fixed home loan rates this week, citing increased global uncertainty and higher funding costs.

New Zealand's major banks are raising fixed home loan rates across multiple terms. ANZ began the increases on Wednesday, with increases of 10 to 26 basis points, followed quickly by BNZ, ASB and Westpac. The banks attributed the moves to rising wholesale funding costs and global economic uncertainty. Some banks also lifted term deposit rates as part of the changes.
