Matahio NZ Onshore granted 10-year permit for Puka gas field in Taranaki
A company has been approved to mine the Puka oil and gas field in Taranaki for the next decade as New Zealand's domestic reserves decline.
Matahio NZ Onshore has received a 10-year petroleum mining permit from New Zealand Petroleum and Minerals for the Puka oil and gas field in Taranaki. The permit covers approximately 19 square kilometres and includes the Puka field and nearby Oru prospect. The approval provides another potential small source of gas as the country's domestic reserves continue to decline.
