Multiple earthquakes shake New Zealand in latest seismic activity

New Zealand experienced several earthquakes over the weekend, including a 5.2 magnitude quake near Te Anau and a 5.7 magnitude quake near Te Araroa.

A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck near Te Anau on Saturday afternoon at 3.23pm, located about 35km north-west of the town. Later, a stronger 5.7 magnitude earthquake hit near Te Araroa around 8.35pm, with GeoNet classifying the shaking as strong. Thousands of people reported feeling the quakes across both islands as part of an ongoing spell of seismic activity for New Zealand.
