WasteCo chair says NZX capital markets failing small companies
Sean Joyce says New Zealand's small businesses are turning to private capital because stock market barriers make listings unviable.
WasteCo chair Sean Joyce has expressed concern that New Zealand's capital markets are not providing a workable pathway for small company growth. Regulatory costs, limited research coverage and weak institutional appetite are driving businesses away from public listings towards private capital instead. Joyce, who has overseen most of the NZX's recent reverse listings, said his enthusiasm for capital markets reforms has diminished as deploying capital has become increasingly difficult.
