Vietnamese leader To Lam arrives in New Zealand for state visit
Vietnamese President To Lam arrives in New Zealand today to strengthen diplomatic ties and sign agreements on education, agriculture and trade.
To Lam, who consolidated power as Vietnam's general secretary and president, is making his first state visit to New Zealand since 2007. The visit follows the two countries' elevation of their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership last year and comes as Vietnam seeks to diversify its international partnerships. New Zealand and Vietnam are expected to sign agreements on education, agriculture, trade and sustainable development, with two-way trade having grown 72% over the past five years.
