US dollar strengthens as oil prices stabilise and manufacturing data impresses

The US dollar broadly gained while oil prices steadied after an early plunge, as strong manufacturing data supported markets.

The US dollar strengthened against a basket of currencies. Oil prices, which had dropped sharply in early trading, settled into a range. US manufacturing data came in strong, though US Treasury bonds showed limited reaction, instead finding support from the lower oil prices.
