Three strikes law records far fewer strikes than officials predicted
A person has received three strikes under new legislation that cleared previous criminal records, with actual numbers falling well short of official estimates.
New legislation that wiped clean previous criminal records has resulted in a three strikes case. Officials had estimated around 1200 strikes would be recorded annually, but only 182 were actually recorded in the first year of operation.
