Tauranga driver sentenced for careless driving causing motorcyclist’s death
A Tauranga man has been sentenced for careless driving after a momentary lapse in attention led him to turn across the path of an oncoming motorcyclist, killing her.
Rodger Smyth pulled left while indicating right and turned across the path of a motorcyclist, causing a collision. The motorcyclist, Karen Brown, was catapulted over the car in the crash. Smyth was sentenced for careless driving over her death, which was attributed to his momentary lapse in attention.
