Small businesses hit by scams as bank impersonation surge continues

Nearly four in 10 New Zealand small businesses have been targeted by scams in the past year, with one in 10 losing money averaging $150,000.

Small businesses across New Zealand are increasingly falling victim to scams, with bank impersonation emerging as a major problem. According to data from Westpac, 38 percent of small businesses were targeted by scams over the past year. Of those targeted, one in 10 lost money, with average losses exceeding $150,000.
