Search continues for hiker swept away in Canterbury river

Police and rescue teams are searching for a man swept downstream while crossing a river near Craigieburn Forest Park after six days with no sign of him.

A man fell while crossing a river on the Cass-Lagoon Saddle track near Craigieburn Forest Park and was swept downstream. His friend suffered minor injuries while walking out to raise the alarm. Search and rescue teams have been working through snow and flooded rivers in hazardous alpine conditions, but have not yet located the man after several days of extensive searching.
