The Red Stag Rotorua Marathon will change to an anticlockwise route in 2027, reversing its traditional direction for the first time in over five decades. Organisers say the new route will offer runners better views of Lake Rotorua and a quieter journey. A new half marathon course starting at Hamurana Springs will also launch in 2027.
