Sal Veder, the AP photographer behind the iconic 'Burst of Joy' image of a Vietnam POW reuniting with his family, has died aged 99.
Slava 'Sal' Veder, a Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer, died on 22 August at age 99. He was best known for his photograph of a U.S. Air Force lieutenant colonel joyfully reuniting with his family after spending five years in a prisoner of war camp in Vietnam. The image became one of the most iconic photographs in American history.
