NZ sharemarket closes at new high as oil prices fall

The S&P/NZX 50 Index reached a new record high, rising 0.57% as oil prices declined.

The S&P/NZX 50 Index closed at 13,850.69, up 78.40 points or 0.57%, marking a new high for the market. After dipping to a morning low of 13,707.56, the index recovered strongly in afternoon trading. Telco Spark was among the gainers, boosted by a business reorganisation.
