A Health and Disability Commissioner has found a midwife breached patient rights by omitting clinical checks during labour that resulted in stillbirth.
A midwife failed to properly monitor a pregnant woman during labour, omitting basic clinical checks and removing an abnormal heart rate monitor after just six minutes. The Health and Disability Commissioner found the midwife breached the patient's rights. The midwife has since provided a written apology to the woman.
