Police commended a member of the public after they helped rescue a surfer caught in hazardous conditions at Fitzroy Beach.
A surfer became stuck in swells at Fitzroy Beach and was rescued with help from a member of the public, whom police have praised for their actions. Conditions at the time were severe, with winds estimated between 30 and 40 knots and swells around two metres.
