New Zealand is bracing for its coldest night of the year, with temperatures expected to plunge well below zero across both islands.
The coldest night of the year is forecast to arrive overnight, with some parts of Auckland expected to drop to minus 2 degrees Celsius and South Island areas reaching minus 10 degrees. MetService has urged people to prepare with extra layers, gloves and blankets for the coming days. The severe cold is affecting many parts of the country, particularly across the North Island.
