Jesse Samuel, 12, died from carbon monoxide poisoning in a portable shower unit at his family's holiday home in Haast in October 2018. An inquest into his death has now begun in Queenstown, eight years after the incident. The gasfitter who signed off on the heater blamed for the death has expressed regret, saying he did not properly check the unit beforehand.
