RBNZ inflation survey shows CPI expectations falling as sharemarket rises

The Reserve Bank's latest survey shows inflation expectations falling back within target, with the sharemarket responding positively to the outlook.

The Reserve Bank's quarterly inflation expectations survey found respondents now expect one-year-ahead annual CPI inflation of 2.6%, down 81 basis points from the previous quarter. Inflation expectations are returning within the Reserve Bank's target band. Respondents expect the Official Cash Rate to rise a further 71 basis points over the coming year. The NZ sharemarket climbed 0.6% following the survey release.
