Helicopters and fire crews are tackling a vegetation fire covering more than 100 hectares in Canterbury's Hurunui region.

A wildfire has broken out on a rural property south of the Hurunui River in Canterbury. The blaze covers more than 100 hectares and was reported in the early afternoon. Helicopters and multiple fire crews have been deployed to tackle the fire because the terrain is too rough for ground operations.
