Bans on harvesting mussels, pāua and other shellfish around Waiheke Island and parts of Coromandel will remain in place until 2028 to rebuild populations.
The Government has extended harvesting bans on mussels, pāua and other shellfish in parts of the Hauraki Gulf, with restrictions remaining in place until 2028. The bans affect areas around Waiheke Island and parts of Coromandel. The extension was approved at the request of three iwi to allow local shellfish populations to recover.
