Government opens $1.2b gas-transition lending scheme through major banks
The Government's $1.2 billion scheme offering cheaper loans for fuel-switching projects opened for applications through five major banks.
The Government's $1.2 billion gas-transition lending scheme became available to applicants last Friday through ANZ, ASB, BNZ, Kiwibank and Westpac. The scheme could reduce borrowing costs for some businesses by about one percentage point. Industry figures have cautioned that take-up may be slow and the guarantee will not make every fuel-switching project financially viable.
