NZ Fashion Week turns 25 as industry veterans reflect on their debuts

New Zealand Fashion Week Kahuria begins Monday in Auckland, marking 25 years since the event's launch in 2001. The Spinoff spoke with models, designers, makeup artists and event producers about their first experiences at the week, when shows were closely guarded, in-person experiences without social media coverage, and industry figures like Zambesi and Karen Walker were creating iconic moments. Many recall the energy, creativity and sense of community as formative experiences that shaped their careers in fashion.
