Health and Disability Commissioner finds doctor misdiagnosed rare stroke
A doctor working beyond her training misdiagnosed a rare stroke as inner ear inflammation, the Health and Disability Commissioner has found.
A doctor in a senior role, despite not having the appropriate training, misdiagnosed a young man's rare stroke as inflammation of the inner ear. The Health and Disability Commissioner's investigation found failures in the care provided. The doctor has since left the hospital.
