Invercargill fountain prank costing council $5000 yearly
Someone is repeatedly adding dish soap to Invercargill's main fountain, forcing the council to clean it up about 50 times a year.
Invercargill City Council's water fountain on Gala Street keeps getting filled with soap by a prankster, creating a bubble bath effect. Staff have to clean up the mess around 50 times annually, costing the council more than $5000 each year. Council general manager for water services Matt Keil said the time spent on cleanups would be better used elsewhere.
