Wellington Zoo euthanises chimp Kitwe following injuries from fight
Eleven-year-old chimpanzee Kitwe has been euthanised at Wellington Zoo after suffering critical injuries in a fight with other members of his troop.
Kitwe, an 11-year-old chimpanzee at Wellington Zoo, was euthanised following critical injuries sustained in a fight with other chimpanzees in his group. The animal, who was named by the late primatologist Jane Goodall, was remembered by staff as a gentle and playful member of the zoo community.
