Western Springs Stadium has been rebranded Te Wai Ōrea Western Springs Bowl and is undergoing a $2.5 million transformation over four months. The venue will operate as a music concert bowl in summer and broadcast-quality rugby stadium in winter, filling a gap between Auckland's largest (Eden Park) and mid-sized (Spark Arena) venues. A semi-permanent stage eliminates the need to build infrastructure from scratch for each show, reducing costs from hundreds of thousands of dollars per event. The venue is expected to host roughly 10 concerts and festivals per summer once established, with Foo Fighters booked for January 2027.
