Agnes Loheni announces candidacy for Waitākere electorate
National's Agnes Loheni is running in the Waitākere seat as part of the party's effort to increase Pasifika representation.
Agnes Loheni, a former MP who served for 20 months in parliament, is contesting the newly redrawn Waitākere electorate for the National Party. She previously ran unsuccessfully in Māngere in 2017 and 2020 before taking a list position in 2023. Loheni is one of three Pasifika candidates on the National ticket and believes the party's policies align with Pacific values, though polling shows National currently attracts only 11% of Pacific voters compared to Labour's 50%.
