Coroner’s inquest hears CCTV of teacher’s final moments before Wellington Harbour death
An inquest into primary school teacher Isaac Levings' death has heard CCTV footage and allegations the council ignored waterfront safety research.
Isaac Levings disappeared from Queens Wharf in April 2023 after attending a concert at TSB Arena. The coronial inquest has examined CCTV of his final moments and heard he was removed from the venue for being intoxicated before walking out and falling into the harbour. A former parks manager criticised the council's response to safety research conducted before Levings' death, with evidence suggesting the council knew of safety risks including inadequate lighting on the waterfront.
