What happened

A water pipe burst outside 50 Boundary Road in New Windsor on Friday night at around 11pm, after Watercare was notified of an outage at 10.15pm. The flooding caused an unoccupied car to crash and damaged the road. Police closed Boundary Road between Dundale Avenue and Kimber Hall Avenue. Hundreds of households between Donovan Street and Dundale Avenue lost water supply. Watercare had excavated the pipe and isolated the damaged section by 2.10am Saturday, with supply expected to be restored to all affected properties late Sunday. Emergency traffic management with a stop/go system allowed vehicles to continue using the road. The cause of the burst was still being investigated.
