City Rail Link peak services to be disrupted by KiwiRail freight schedules
Auckland's incoming City Rail Link will struggle with uneven peak-hour services due to freight train scheduling conflicts, the mayor says.
Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown has called on KiwiRail to reconsider its freight services ahead of the City Rail Link's opening in about four weeks. Timetables show that morning and evening peak services on the congested South-City line will be irregular when the new rail link begins operating. The freight operations are creating scheduling conflicts that affect passenger services during busy commute times.
