What happened

Auckland Transport is warning passengers to expect delays as tens of thousands of people head to multiple events on Saturday. Auckland FC's A-League season opener against Melbourne City FC will be at Go Media Stadium, with sold-out concerts from Olivia Dean at Western Springs Bowl, Stan Walker at The Trusts Arena, and Macy Gray at The Civic. The warning follows delays last weekend when passengers waited up to 40 minutes for trains after the Bledisloe Cup match at Eden Park due to a level crossing closure. Auckland Transport will add extra capacity on some buses and trains, with free travel from 1.30pm for those heading to the Auckland FC game. Penrose Station will have additional staff positioned. Event shuttles will run for the Olivia Dean concert, and extra buses will be on standby on the NX1 and 18 routes after it finishes. Macy Gray's show is expected to finish around 10.30pm. Rebecca Paul from Auckland Transport Operations Centre urged people to plan ahead and allow extra time.
