Children’s commissioner Claire Achmad steps down after missing reappointment
Children's commissioner Claire Achmad leaves her role on Friday after being unsuccessful in reapplying, with youth advocates calling for her reinstatement.
Claire Achmad's tenure as children's commissioner has ended after the government restructured the role and she was not successful in reapplying. A petition signed by over a thousand youth advocates has called for her reinstatement, arguing the trust she built cannot be replaced. Her successor, Jane Searle, will take up the position from August 1.
