Police have ended the search for a missing infant after a woman and her toddler were found dead in waters off South Australia's Limestone Coast.

The bodies of a 36-year-old woman and her 23-month-old daughter were recovered in the water near Port MacDonnell on Monday. Her 3-month-old son remains missing, and police have called off the search, describing it as now a retrieval effort. The woman had visited a police station the day before the incident.
