National leader Christopher Luxon announced an extension of paid parental leave to 30 weeks by 2029, alongside policies allowing both parents to take leave simultaneously.

National announced plans to extend paid parental leave to 30 weeks by 2029 if re-elected, and would allow both parents to take paid parental leave at the same time. The party also committed to protecting changes in the Employment Leave Act to prevent holiday pay being reduced for those returning from parental leave. The announcement was made at an event attended by several female MPs and staff.
