A religious group leader and his wife have been imprisoned for the manslaughter and kidnapping of a follower.
Kaixiao Liu and his wife Lanyue Xiao have been sentenced to jail for the manslaughter and kidnapping of one of their followers. Liu, who led a fringe religious group, was sentenced to 10 years and 5 months. Both face additional convictions for perverting the course of justice and interfering with human remains. The couple maintained they bore no responsibility for the death.
