A SpaceX Falcon rocket's upper stage collided with the moon on 5 August after drifting through space for over a year. The rocket hit the lunar surface at 8700 kilometres per hour. NASA spacecraft orbiting the moon has since captured detailed before-and-after images showing the crater created by the impact.
