Southland District Council unaware of location of thousands of kilometres of pipes

A Southland council manager has revealed the council does not know where all of its 32,000km of pipes are located.

Southland District Council's Kevin Johnson has acknowledged that the council cannot account for the locations of some of its extensive pipe network. The council manages 32,000 kilometres of pipes, with some remaining unaccounted for in their records.
